Oscar-Claude Monet was a French painter born in Paris in 1840 and died in 1926. Claude Monet studied at the Académie Suisse where he was a classmate of Auguste Renoir. He was one of the pioneers of the Impressionist movement. During his long career, he mostly created paintings of nature and landscapes. Despite personal struggles, Monet's dedication to his craft and love for nature has inspired artists worldwide ever since.
What is “Poppy Field” about?
Claude Monet's "Poppy Field" is a masterpiece of Impressionism. This painting captures a field of red poppies in full bloom. In the landscape you can find a mother and child in the foreground and another in the background. This oil on canvas painting was created in 1873 and was presented to the public one year after its creation at the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874. The painting "Poppy Field" by Claude Monet is currently exhibited at the ‘Musée d'Orsay’ in Paris.
